AAAAAIIIII!!

In English it's "Yes" "Yep" or "Sure". In Italian and Spanish it's "Si", in Turkish it's "Evet", in Czech it's "Ano" in Arabic it's "Eh" or "Na'am". In Sudan it's "AAAII"

And I bet that's where Ali G got it from!

I love it. This and the salute (tapping the shoulder) are something I'll take with me from here.

What's with all the anonymous and codename names? If you have something to say, don't be afraid to attach your name to it. I'd like to know who you are.

Anonymous Bond, thanks for enlightening us. Now that we know what your name is we can finally sleep.

go, who are you? When you say "back to civilization" are you suggesting Lebanon? (that's where I was before going to Sudan). You call that civilization? Because in your post you seemed to have some pretty harsh words directed at Lebanon. A good friend of mine recently said something that I totally agree with: "only our own mind determines the way in which the world appears to us, and then by changing the mind, we can change this appearance" Pretty much sums it all up.

Sudan in many ways is more "civilized" than what we have been conditioned to accept as the civilized world. Maybe not in other ways.

So to answer your question, I'm working towards hapiness, and that usually comes from within, not from outside. And that could be in Sudan, Spain or Sri Lanka, depending on who you are and what you are looking for.

Wizz, there is a reason you are getting defensive, irrespectively of the state of mind. I am sure the quality of life can be managed, but there will be a time where you will want more quantity in your life. Quantity of opinions, drinks, leisure, pleasure etc.

ak, totally agree with you. And the time is now. Thing is, one won't find happiness anywhere if it is not found from within first. Where I'm at now is not where I see myself in the long or medium term future.

I wasn't being defensive - I was being insightful.

"civilization" is a relative term. I think that by going to 'unpopular' or 'unconventional' destination spots only adds to the adventure one experiences in life. Who wants to be in a place where everyone and their dog has been to before, becuse it's # 1 on the Club-Med website? Be adventurous! Remember living in Liberia? I thought that was awesome! What a great place to have been, so different and unlike any of the others.
However, the point, dear bro, is that your friends miss you, and what they really are saying is that they want you back to where they can access you easily. That's really the message behind their comments. It's not about finding your happiness, it's a selfish need to have you come back to what they call "home". And who can blame them?!

Miss you,
Birra

Hi dude,
Don't worry what other people say.
You know what you are doing and should be proud of yourself for challenging into new things.
Take care,

Birra, a butiful comment by you, love it...very TRUE !

Obviously James Bond thing was posted by me, you know I am writing a 20 Bond DVD collection recently couldn´´t resist...:)))

An Wisssam, yep you are absolutely right, the hapiness comes from inside....Always ! If you are ok within it doesn´t matter what others say or think or what you have or do not have. Fuck it as long as you are happy. And when you are happy you know what to do, keep living and give your love to others. And if they are willing to listen....doing your best to explain them what it is , this ¨hapiness¨ thing. Of course it is unexplaineable but what the hell the challenge is more fun then the goal itself......

AAIIIII!!! Agree with all the comments. Please don't let me be misunderstood when I express my point of view. I pretty much agree with everything that was said, just wanted to add more depth to it.

Civilization is a huge term, and should be treated with caution. Happiness is also tricky, since it comes from within, but we always seem to blame external things for not having it. We also don't know if it is materialistic, spiritual, intellectual, cognitive, or maybe a combination of them all. Maybe it's also a combination of external and internal ballances. Whatever it is to each one of you, and however you like to have it, I wish you an infinite supply, because you all deserve it.

Thanks scimmia!
I think happiness is a series of neuro-chemicals that are released in the brain. Tricky, eh? Because who can explain the cause-and-effect of this process?
i.e., which comes first, the brain's chemicals or the event that triggered it? And...does it even matter?
Hehehee....I think that's funny.

Happiness, according to Mr Eduard Punset is the absence of fear.
Are you afraid, Wiss? I don't think so! If you are brave enough to adventure into the unknown, making/taking decisions will be part of your happiness, because it's not the effects of those decisions, but the process of taking them that makes you happy... If you fear risking, your path will reach a dead end (will you be happy then? - Maybe yes...maybe no, after all, making/taking a decision is also an action)...

you ar all totally right
and totally wrong
including myself, obviously

hehhehee, but it doesnt matter if you ar happy no?
there are simply things each of us has to do (or not do)

Ana, we take decisions. But who makes them?

Geez you guys, you seem to casually just laugh off some very important questions! It does matter which comes first, the neuron shocks or the things that cause it! And it does matter if we are right or wrong! I care, really, I do!

Unknown said...

About happiness being the absence of fear, I think happiness could be defined as the absence and presence of loads of things. For example happiness is also the absnece of hunger, anxiety, pain, or the stupid feeling of an overfilled bladder. Happiness could also be the presence of comfort, pride, victory, or some overreacting neurons shooting up your brain. No?

Izi said...

Wiss, you also make decisions - like travelling here. You weren't presented with that decision to take, you made that decision. It wasn't a crossroads in which you had to take a decision where to go.

As for happiness, I still think you need strenght and courage (absence of fear) to get the things that make you happy in your life. Think of Forrest Gump...

Okay, here's another one for you (this should keep Rafal occupied for a while):
I think Happiness is the absence of unhappiness.
But...then think of some people (and we all know a few), who are happy only when they're miserable. I think also, that happiness is life. And, happiness is ignorance (or, lack of intelligence?).

Birra.

Unknown said...

yeah, ignorance is bliss.

Ana, I disagree. I didn't make the decision to go to Madrid. I took it. The choice was there for me to take. So was the choice of a multitude of other cities. I took Madrid.

Hey Wissam! Am back from Argentina. I loved the donkey story, don't try too hard to understand why he gets hards on. Just let it be. You don't want no hard monkey chasing you around town. Anyways, seems that you are having fun over there with the land marks. XOXOX

I was reading my posting and saw typo, I wrote monkey for donkey, I never realized these two were so close in the spelling, anyways I did mean donkey, bueno con esas palabras te dejo, no se si todavia entiendes el espanol, un beso!
